ArtUOK? – Celebrating Art’s Impact on Mental Health
The First Friday Foundation is gearing up for its first annual ‘ArtUOK?’ event, celebrating how art and self-expression help with mental health and even save lives!
Hosted at the Historic Fifth Street School on March 25th from 10 AM to 2 PM, the event will feature fun workshops, live performances and speakers, and resource tables from various local organizations.
“Creativity is an important resource, promoting healing and necessary outlets to many challenges humans face, often daily. During this program, artists will come together and share their experiences in their art journey to help others,” said Corey Fagan, Executive Director of the First Friday Foundation. “I find this inspiring and recognize the positive experience this builds within our community. First Friday Foundation is proud to host this program.”
Attendees will receive goodie bags that include an ArtUOK-themed shirt, stickers, buttons, a journal, a pen, and more.
In addition, the winning organization of the March First Friday Festival Art Contest will be presented with a $1,000 prize donation at the event.
According to First Friday, “Each spool was live painted by a local artist during the March First Friday event while representing a different charitable organization in Las Vegas. The general theme for the pieces was to raise mental health awareness.”
Artist Watch Sparrow (@watch_sparrow), painting for Roseman University College of Medicine (@rosemangenesis) won with his piece entitled “Life’s 1 Big Carousel.”
This event is free and open to the public to people of all ages. To register for the event and receive your parking pass for the City Centre Parking Garage, fill out this form or scan the QR code from the event flyer.
