Street Vendor Sonidero
This Saturday, support our local street vendors by joining Fifth Sun Project for a night of food, fun, and dancing at their Street Vendor Sonidero!
In an effort to help the hardworking street vendors in our community, like our neighborhood eloteros, Fifth Sun Project created the Street Vendor Relief Fund Project.
Through this project, they’re raising money to help fund a day off for the vendors to spend time with their families, buy something for their business that they can’t afford, and help relieve the stress of working all day every day in the streets.
Located at the Starboard Tack Bar on 2601 Atlantic Street, doors for the fundraiser open at 8 pm, with the dance contest beginning at 9 pm. To purchase tickets to the event, visit Fifth Sun Project’s LinkTree and prepay through their listed cash apps, or pay at the door. Please note that as of Friday 7/30, masks will be mandatory to wear while indoors.
Tickets + Dance Contest
General entry to the event costs $5. There’s is also a $20 entry option that comes with drink tickets, raffle tickets, and a pack of merch! Entry into the dance contest costs $10, per dance category, or $25 for a triple entry into all three categories. The dance floor is open to everyone, but only those who officially enter the contest will have a chance to win the grand prize. (See flyer right for additional details on pricing and packages.)
The contest includes three different categories to enter:
- 1. Cumbia (sonideras, cholo, psicodélico)
- 2. Reggaeton (old skoo, new stuff)
- 3. Throwback (Freestyle 60s-90s)
The winners of each category will receive a gift basket of art pieces created by local artists, gift cards to local businesses, framed photos by local photographers, merchandise from the event, Mexican pottery, and, of course, the title of dance winner.
In addition to this contest, raffle tickets will be sold at the door for your chance to win prizes from various local artists and vendors. People who bring schools supplies, food, and first aid supplies to donate to The Solidarity Fridge also receive entries into the raffle.
Fifth Sun Project will also be selling commemorative merchandise from the event made by local artists, including t-shirts, stickers, buttons, and pins. All proceeds from merchandise sales, general entry, contest entries, and raffle ticket purchases benefit the relief fund.
