North Las Vegas Host 4th Annual Paws in the Park
On October 7th, North Las Vegas City Council hosted its 4th annual Paws in the Park event at Aliante Nature Discovery Park. This outdoor event featured local food vendors, raffles, a pup and “hooman” twinning contest, a dog costume contest, and even a doggie paw-rade!
In addition, there was also a free vaccination and microchipping for dogs courtesy of Hearts Alive Village Animal Rescue and Clinic for those who made an appointment before attending the event. They also took some walk-ins on a first-come, first-serve basis. Hearts Alive Village is an affordable vet clinic that provides high-quality care for your pets at fees well below the commercial veterinary clinics.
Even if you couldn’t grab an appointment for this event, we highly recommend visiting Hearts Alive Village Animal Rescue and Clinic for your pet care needs. Learn more here!
Bella’s Purpose with ‘Paws in the Park’
When speaking to Cheryl Bella, a representative from the City of North Las Vegas, she provided some insight on the origin of Paws in the Park and the event’s purpose.
“The idea for the event came from City Councilman Richard Cherchio, a long-time valley resident and avid animal lover,” Bella said. “In addition to supporting initiatives and legislation serving military members, veterans, and first responders, Councilman Cherchio’s other passion includes the safety, health, and welfare of animals. He works with numerous not-for-profit animal organizations and advocates for the kind treatment and safety of pets.”
Bella expressed gratitude towards her community and those supporting this event. She states that the event itself couldn’t exist without the support of the City of North Las Vegas staff and the multiple community partners who volunteer their time, goods, and resources to make it a success. Some of these vendors include The North Las Vegas Police Department, NV Energy, Bob’s Market, Club K9, and everyone’s favorite local mobile dog bakery, Paws Off the Table!
Bella stated that Paws in the Park enables like-minded animal lovers and pet parents to meet and mingle, and offers needed safety information and services, like vaccinations and microchipping. Bella stated that Paws in the Park is open to the entire community and welcomes all residents—those with pets and even those without—to come out and enjoy a fun time with their furry friends, families, and neighbors!

Local Participants Review the Event
A local attendee, Nicholas Lukban, was excited to share his thoughts on the event. Lukban stated that the event was “very fun and lighthearted.”
Lukban also signed up to get his dog, Soju, vaccinated. He appreciated how fast the entire process went from start to finish.
“The volunteers were very nice, organized, and helpful. The process didn’t even take very long, [and] we didn’t have to wait for hours in the sun because of how efficient everyone was,” Lukban said. “I think it’s a good opportunity for people who can’t afford to go to the vet for vaccines but still want to keep their dog safe.”
One of the vendors at this event, Natasha Woodruff, founder and CEO of Paws Off The Table, eagerly shared her experience. Attending Paws in the Park for her second year, she spoke of how enjoyable and welcoming the event was.
“It’s a fun environment for the dog community to come and learn more about the health and well-being with nutritional guidance from Dog & Whistle, how to protect your dog and make sure they are up to date with vaccines from Paws Health Partners and promote responsible dog ownership from Vegas Dog Moms,” Woodruff said. “Paws Off The Table was also in the park, providing delicious treats for all the pups!”
Paws Off The Table is a local business specializing in hand-crafted delicious treats made with the highest quality ingredients.
