Money Money Money – Lisa Chastain Helps You Manage
Part of growing up means managing your finances. Lisa Chastain, a Vegas-based money coach, is here to help us learn how to manage money properly.
They say money makes the world go round. Really, it makes my head go round and round with math equations to ensure I have enough of it. You need to pay your rent/mortgage, car loan, and utilities while buying food and gas.
Sometimes, we make mistakes and find ourselves less prepared to manage finances and suddenly feel like we’re drowning in endless waves of debt and interest. That’s where Lisa Chastain comes in.
All About Lisa Chastain
A true Vegas gal, Chastain spent her whole life here. She graduated from Cheyenne High School and attended UNLV for college. She was always passionate about mentoring, coaching, and helping those around her.
While studying in college, she began working as a peer advisor and worked her way up to the advising director position at UNLV by the time she graduated in 2011. She then left to become a stay-at-home mom for her son that same year. She lost herself in work and life struggles. She began to work on herself and her personal development and returned to the working world.
She opened her own company in 2016 for financial advising and got all the required certifications. After a few years, Chastain felt this role did not fit quite right and shifted into money coaching instead. This switch allowed Chastain a little more freedom and connection with her clients.
“(I’m) someone who loves people and is trained to help people reach their goals – life, financial, health. That is a coaching industry,” Chastain said. “Financial coaching is for those who want help with their mindset with money.”
Coaching also diversified the clientele coming for money help. Her company boasts a non-budgeting strategy. While money slips in and out all the time, she realizes the importance of money management rather than perceived restriction.
Chastain helps people know their relationship to money and personalizes their plans to them. Whether they need to spend more, save more, or invest more, she is there to help you every step of the way.
Managing Your Finances (Properly)
Since money and an individual’s relationship differs from person to person, Chastain offers a quiz to see your money mindset. She breaks down the relationship into five categories: the saver, the spender, the dreamer, the avoider, and the giver.
Depending on your view of money, the quiz will help Chastain personalize your needs to give you the best advice possible. For example, with dreamers, the most common mindset for Millennials, Chastain advises them to chase their dreams more. Take a few risks where possible.
When you receive your money personality, and Chastain reviews your current financial situation, your goals will direct your next steps. Whether you need to get out of debt or want to make your money work for you, Chastain will make it happen.
Due to social media, we hear different advice from so many different people about general situations. The amount of information freely at our hands feels bombarding at times. Getting your information from a licensed and trained professional who knows your unique situation and goals is important. Financial planning and money management are not one-size-fits-all.

Financial Advisors vs. Money Coach
There is actually a significant difference between financial advising and money coaching.
Financial advisors must be licensed individuals to give financial advice. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) regulate and involve themselves heavily with financial advising. Due to their licensing, financial advisors sell products like life insurance, brokerage accounts, etc. They also make recommendations on investment opportunities for their clients.
Money coaching takes a modern approach and personalizes the relationship between the person and money. Money coaches help identify your spending habits and create plans based on your goals. Whether you need to take on some risks or get out of debt, your money coach helps your money fulfill its purpose. Each money coach gives their own unique advice, and sometimes they completely disagree on the approach one should take.
Everyone should take the time to do some research and find out whether they need a financial advisor or a money coach. Research different coaches to find one who better suits you, your goals, and your needs.
Chastain is licensed with a Series 65 and has health and life insurance licenses so she has all the credentials and experience to guide you along the way.
