Little Flower Moments
When looking for a business offering event decor and rentals, look no further than Little Flower Moments. Little Flower Moments is a women-of-color-owned local business co-founded by three incredible women, Katrina, Tara, & Rochelle.
These women strive to create beautiful custom statement pieces for life’s most important occasions. They specialize in custom signage, wood florals, and balloon garlands. In addition, they also offer statement backdrops, interactive play, such as a colorful ball pit, and even event styling, such as a dessert wall.
Speaking to all three Little Flower Moments co-founders, Rochelle Quiban, Katrina Palaca, and Tara Palaca, they talked about the ins and outs of running their own business.
Inspiration for Little Flower Moments LLC
Rochelle Quiban
Rochelle Quiban talked about how Little Flower Moments came to be and what inspired the business. She expressed how she’s always loved making things for people ever since she was a kid. She even started event planning and creating DIY invitations and decor for close friends and family while in high school.
At Quiban’s first job out of college, she worked in corporate event marketing, which helped her better understand event design for conferences and conventions in a corporate setting. This sparked her curiosity towards creating and managing her own event business but ultimately didn’t actively pursue this until after her wedding.
“A few years later, I planned and DIY’ed most of my wedding decor with Dominique, my husband. After that, the thought became a more tangible idea, but I knew it wasn’t something I could do alone,” Quiban said. “I reached out to Katrina, who had started her career in the event industry too, and it turned out she and Tara (her sister) have been wanting to start a decorating business as well! After a lot of prayer and support from our loved ones, Little Flower Moments LLC came to fruition and blossomed.”
Katrina Palaca
Katrina Palaca also shared how she became involved in this business and developed her passion for business.
“Event decor and planning has always been a hobby of ours growing up! From planning all our friends and families’ birthdays and celebrations, it gradually became [our] passion,” Palaca said. “After graduating with a degree in business marketing, my passion for events led me to a career in DMC & Event Management and Decor. After sharing similar passions with my sister Tara and one of our best friends, Rochelle, we saw the opportunity to create a business that we can call our own.”
Tara Palaca
Tara Palaca shared how she never expected to end up where she is now, starting her own business and working with two of her best friends.
“Personally, I never could imagine that I would jump into the world of event decor. I am currently still working as a Registered Nurse, and never would I think that I would deviate from the medical field,” Palaca said. “But around my year mark as a nurse, it was becoming hard for me to ignore my longing and passion to be in the creative space. That is when I realized that I’m not limited to one role and that it is possible to wear many hats in life.”
Regardless of where these three thought life would take them, they all agreed that creating their own business was the right path for each of them. Katrina Palaca believed that after COVID-19, she saw how businesses affect our society, and they all decided they wanted to create something impactful.
“We wanted to make an impact in people’s lives by creating memorable moments and experiences for people’s most important life celebrations,” Palaca said. “We saw that our passion for events and event planning can actually be a lucrative career and a creative outlet for us.”

Balancing Business and Personal Lives
With any business, especially one you open up with friends or family, there will be times you don’t see eye to eye. Luckily, these three have found a balance that works well for them.
All three ladies grew up together and have been best friends for about 15 years, so they’re confident in the workflow they’ve created and understand how one another reacts under pressure.
“Of course, our business partner relationship isn’t without challenges, but it’s nice being able to bounce ideas back and forth with people who you know well and trust,” Quiban said. “Simply put, working together is fun – it’s like brainstorming and decorating with your sisters.”
Trust in a business is so important, especially when working with friends or family members, and Tara Palaca is thankful she has a great duo to rely on when needed.
“Every day, I am grateful to be working alongside Rochelle and Katrina because they are some of the most hardworking people I know. I would be nowhere without their expertise in the event/marketing world,” Palaca said. “Also, what makes this easier is that we have been working together for years, and I can easily place my trust in them to pull through.”
Not only do you need trust, but you also need to learn and grow with your team, as Katrina does with Rochelle and Tara.
“Working with your closest friends and family can definitely have its moments, especially in stressful seasons within the event industry, but it is also the most rewarding experience. To be able to grow not only in our business but also in our relationships.” Palaca said, “Both Rochelle and Tara are so creatively talented, and their ideas continue to encourage me to dream big.”
Taking the First Step
When starting a business, the first step is always the scariest and the most daunting. These ladies bravely took that step and created something amazing. They all acknowledge that having a sound support system, learning to say “no” at times, and sometimes just initiating your first step are all essential to building your own business.
“Starting a business can be a scary thing to dive into. Just do it, scared. You would never know until you try,” Quiban said. “The reality [is that] entrepreneurship is tough. When you own a business, it’s a constant process of learning and growth, and you will be working long, long hours. But if starting a business is what you feel called to do, go for it. You will never move forward if you don’t go first.”
Tara Palaca expressed the importance of pacing yourself when starting your business and how to not add too much onto your plate at once.
“It is so easy to become burnt out because, let’s face it, when you start a business, it is not like you have set time to clock out,” Palaca said. “You have to be honest with yourself about what you can handle at the time. Sometimes, you will have to accept that you need to pass on certain opportunities because you just don’t have enough time, energy, or resources.”
Katrina Palaca reminds those interested in starting their own business that they’re their own boss. Yet, they can trust and learn from other people’s ideas.
“As a business owner, you have the opportunity to make your business your own,” Palaca said. “You get to call the shots. There is so much to learn by learning from other businesses and welcoming other ideas, even when you don’t see the vision at first.”
