“Can You Take the Heat?” Cauliflower Hot Wing Challenge
Spicing things up for a good cause, the All Friends Animal Sanctuary is hosting their first-ever ‘Hot Wing Challenge’ tomorrow. Funds from this event benefit the rescued animal residents saved from neglect, abandonment, and abuse in the Vegas valley and beyond.
Local animal liberation group Las Vegas Animal Save is helping organize the event due to having rescued slaughterhouse chickens at the sanctuary. Their belief is that sanctuary work is activism and caretaking for the animal residents is mutual aid.
“If the animals could save themselves, they would,” said Camille Savage, the founder and organizer of Las Vegas Animal Save.
In further honor of the animals, this challenge is fully vegan, with the hot wings made out of cauliflower instead of chicken. Phyto’s Vegan Eats is proudly sponsoring the event by providing all the wings and five different levels of hot sauce. Both being vegan themselves, Phyto’s founders Monica and Anibal Flores believe animals are “friends, not food.”
Phyto’s will also cater the event with their hot dog cart. They’re offering their exclusive ‘Just Wingin’ It’ vegan hot dog, made with crispy buffalo cauliflower wings, diced celery, and carrots, and topped with a creamy vegan ranch. A portion of the proceeds from sales of this hot dog at the event also benefits the sanctuary.
Depending on the success of this event’s debut, the organizers hope to make it an annual event.
