Eccentric Artists Hosting 3rd Annual Shameless Plug Arts Festival

Eccentric Artists is hosting their third annual Shameless Plug Arts Festival at Fergusons in Downtown Las Vegas tomorrow evening. This event helps highlight local artists and showcase their work for the whole community.

With a new theme every year, this year’s Eccentric Artists theme is Nostalgia. Eccentric Artists encourages people to dress in their best Y2K outfit or Halloween costume and take pictures in their Y2K photo booth.

This year’s event features crowd favorites such as live stage performances, artist booths, and their highly anticipated film challenges! You can watch these screenings and vote for the audience award favorite.

The Inspiration For This Event

Created back in October 202, the Shameless Plug Arts Festival started virtually. In 2021, when the world became a little bit safer for community events, Eccentric Artists showcased this event to those around them.

When speaking to Nadine-Gabrielle Natividad, one of the members of Eccentric Artists, they were eager to share the inspiration and process of the “Shameless Plug Arts Festival.”

“On top of wanting to include various categories of artists under one roof and serving as our company’s birthday celebration, Eccentric Artists also wanted to emphasize being proud of showing off your artistic endeavors, thus creating an event where you could “shamelessly plug” your work in front of a whole community just made sense!” Natividad said.

Natividad also expressed that all of the Eccentric Artists founders came from a filmmaking background, and they wanted a way to bridge different artistic mediums like visual arts like films and crafts, along with the performing arts like music, dance, comedy, and live poetry.

“At the end of the day, Shameless Plug Arts Festival is meant to be a celebration of art and community, so we just want to make sure everyone participating, whether they’re working or attending, feels taken care of,” they added.

The Process Organizing This Event

With this being an annual event, Natividad acknowledges that the planning process can get hectic. Many factors go into planning an event like this, such as thinking of a theme, which Natividad explains is always something fun with an inspiring message. Hence the meaning of this year’s theme, Nostalgia.

“For a lot of people, the love for the arts sprouted during their childhood. In adulthood, being an “artist” can sometimes be complicated,” Natividad said. “The theme was our way of looking inward, staying true to your inner child and what art meant to them.”

Natividad and Eccentric Artists consistently expressed gratitude towards those who have helped them thus far with this event. They acknowledge the designer of their logo and poster, Sydney Mendoza, and the designer of the event photo booth, Emma Batty. They also acknowledge the fantastic volunteers who take the time to help them during and leading up to the event.

Eccentric Artists hopes to bring the community together with this event, showcase incredible artists, and have a great time doing it!

“We hope artists (no matter how big or small their audience is) and supporters of the arts can come by and celebrate with us!” Natividad said. “I feel like there’s a corporate stigma that’s often associated with the term “networking,” but we want our event to be a place where artists can meet people that might be outside of their bubble and maybe find others to collaborate with in the future.”
