Celestial Tours – Introduction

By: Peter Daleo

Welcome all you lovers of nature to Celestial Tours!

It is my sincere hope that you will be inspired and thrilled at the treasures of our night skies with its changing seasonal displays. All you really need is to get out under the skies with your excitement to explore.

You’ll be surprised what you can see with just your eyes or a pair of binoculars, especially if you live near a rural area away from the light-polluted skies of urban regions.

I encourage you to seek out local astronomy clubs. Chances are there’s one near you. Most have public observing events with members owning various types of telescopes for you to observe through. This is particularly helpful if you are considering purchasing one.

Like all sciences, astronomy can be quite technical which, understandably, can tend to be kind of a turn-off. Fortunately, astronomy is also one of the most accessible sciences – all you need to do is look up!

This article series will be presented in a relatively non-techy format. It’s supposed to be a fun and relaxing escape with the companionship of friends, or solo if you prefer.

The source of inspiration, wonder, and lore is the same night sky you’ll see just as the ancients did thousands of years ago, and, essentially, just as we in the modern age see it.

The coming articles will present you with topics on current sky events, observing techniques, and resources to improve your experience. Also, feel free to email me with questions or discussion topics.

Stay tuned, and look up!
