Poems to Melt ICE

Fuck ICE Poems

These poems were originally published back in June when the ICE raids started ramping up in LA. The website was having issues, so the poem was only able to be shared on social media. Now that the site is working again, it was time to publish these here and reiterate a resounding Fuck ICE.

Watching what is happening in LA in response to ICE acting as America’s very own secret police/Gestapo, snatching people off the street and disappearing them, I wrote a couple poems that spell out “Fuck ICE.”

The 2nd one, I couldn’t decide which ending I liked better, so fuck it, here’s both.

Enjoy. Resist. And be prepared to defend yourself, your loved ones, and your neighbors against whatever happens. <3

Fuck ICE 1

Fascist pigs in the streets,
Unidentified Gestapo, our neighbors meet.
Civil unrest to protect our constitution,
Kickstarting a long-awaited revolution.

Incredible resolve in the face of evil,
Communities gather to protect their people.
Evolution of care & extinction of cruelty.

Fuck ICE 2

This version highlights the importance of fighting for one another and refers to the time period the poem was written in with the mention of “this summer.”

Fascism is out in full force,
Under the stars and stripes,
Coming for our neighbors with no remorse,
Knocking down our democracy in targeted strikes.

It’s time to stand up and fight for each other,
Coming together as a community,
Everyone has a role to play this summer.

Fuck ICE 2.1

This version highlights a call to action to defend our rights, and opens up the ending to extend past the summer with the ongoing revolution we are in.

Fascism is out in full force,
Under the stars and stripes,
Coming for our neighbors with no remorse,
Knocking down our democracy in targeted strikes.

It’s time to resist and fight for our rights,
Coming together as a community,
Everyone has a role to play as the revolution ignites.

“Long live the resistance if there’s something to resist” – Macklemore, ‘Hinds Hall 2.’
